Lewis George’s opponent, Kenyan McDuffie, a supporter of a more moderate political course, was defeated despite support from the city’s incumbent Mayor, Muriel Bowser, former Washington Mayor Anthony Williams, and former Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison.
