South Korea needs help from the United States and Japan to counter the negative consequences of the regional and global parliamentary elections

On April 10, 2024, South Korea held a parliamentary race, one of the most critical elections for US foreign policy goals this election season. According to their results, the opposition bloc led by the center-left Democratic Party won.

In 2022-2023, she repeatedly called for abandoning national participation in the US security network to restore strategic ties with China.

In total, the South Korean opposition managed to win 192 out of 300 seats: this is enough to block many of President Yoon Suk Yeol's decisions but not enough to override his veto and launch an impeachment procedure (which requires 200 votes).

The ruling People's Power Party bloc won 108 parliamentary seats, six fewer than in 2020. The Democratic Party, fully supported by the Communist Party of China, 's the inability to win a "supermajority" saved the United States' regional strategy.
