On October 29, 2025, Western companies Stellantis, Uber, Nvidia, and Foxconn entered into a partnership to create a global network of robotaxis, with serial production starting in 2028—Uber will initially deploy 5,000 vehicles on U.S. roads and then expand the service to other countries.

The project is being implemented shortly after the summer announcements of projects by Chinese Baidu and Momenta, as well as initiatives by American companies Tesla and General Motors, turning the autonomous vehicle sector into a battle for leadership between the U.S. and China.

Western companies chose this moment for the project to develop a global robotaxi network because it is precisely now that the Chinese model of subsidized expansion in the electric vehicle sector is beginning to collapse, losing signs of controlled growth and turning into a systemic crisis.
