From August 29 to 30, 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first official visit to Japan in the last seven years, during which he held talks with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the leadership of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and governors of 16 prefectures.
As a result of the meetings, Tokyo committed to investing at least $68 billion in Indian sectors of advanced technologies, infrastructure, and defense by 2035.
The main directions of the renewed strategic partnership are defined as cooperation in the fields of semiconductor production, rare earth metal mining, shipbuilding, and nuclear energy development.
