Elon Musk’s political project “America Party”: tech elites form a hybrid model of influence on White House policy

On July 5, 2025, after conducting a poll on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) regarding the need for a new political party in the United States, Elon Musk decided to register an alternative political force called the "America Party."

The idea of creating a new party arose following several public conflicts with the presidential administration, primarily concerning the passage and signing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB).

The conflict between Elon Musk and the White House stemmed from a disruption of the internal balance within the Republican environment, which had been maintained since Donald Trump’s nomination as the party’s presidential candidate.
