Solid Info

In March 2024, the United States investigated the national security threats posed by Chinese electric vehicles. The investigation is related to doubts about the legality of the Chinese government's subsidies for electric vehicles and the technologies used by China that may collect personal data that will be processed and used by China.

The investigation could potentially lead to tariff restrictions on Chinese imports. A similar investigation launched in October 2023 by the European Commission has already allowed the EU to claim substantial evidence of subsidy violations and a high probability of trade restrictions in November 2024.

The United States and European partners are acting proactively to neutralize the Chinese threat and China's attempts to increase its weight in the international arena.
