On March 27, 2026, Donald Trump unveiled the AgroFarms platform as a tool to stabilize the agricultural sector, which has become increasingly unpredictable due to external logistical and resource constraints.

The initiative includes loan guarantees through the Small Business Administration (SBA), liquidity support for farmers, and measures to maintain production cycles amid sharply rising costs.

The launch of AgroFarms coincides with escalating tensions around Iran, which directly affected the supply of critical fertilizer components via the Strait of Hormuz.

The White House’s decision is a reaction to the risk of disruption to the U.S. planting season rather than a planned agricultural reform, as financial instruments like loan guarantees can support American farmers in procuring fertilizers.
