On October 16, 2025, Microsoft Corporation's leadership announced its intention to relocate most of its production outside China. In particular, the company informed its contractors about the start of preparations to withdraw from Chinese jurisdiction the production of Surface laptops and servers for data centers, including all components and assembly stages.

In addition, it announced plans to relocate Xbox gaming console production from China. The implementation of this decision will begin in January 2026.

At the same time, Amazon Web Services Corporation announced reductions in production processes in China, primarily regarding the manufacture of servers for artificial intelligence data centers, which are classified under US national security.
