Jake Sullivan's visit to Beijing: Biden Administration faces challenges in containing China

Solid Info
National Security Advisor Sullivan and the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party held closed-door talks in Beijing from August 27 to 29, 2024.
They included meetings with Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Zhang Youxia, Xi's deputy in the Central Military Commission of China, who is believed to be the developer of the plan for the PLA's offensive against Taiwan by 2029.
As a result of the talks, the United States and China agreed to hold a telephone conversation between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in early fall 2024 and to continue to maintain open communication channels.
Beijing has agreed to hold a call between the head of the PLA Southern Theater Command and the commander of USINDOPACOM, Admiral Samuel Paparo. Washington sees this as tactically necessary to prevent an uncontrolled scenario of military conflicts.
