The 16th BRICS Leadership Summit was held in Kazan on October 22-24, 2024. The failed One Belt, One Road forum in October 2023, which, instead of presenting the Chinese civilizational model and more than a hundred global logistics infrastructure projects, limited itself to declaratively defining future directions for further international cooperation.

This time, China viewed the BRICS summit as a chance for revenge and an opportunity to unite countries with a combined majority of the world's population and strong economic potential.

Xi Jinping's plans for the BRICS summit were partially realized. At his personal invitation, the Chinese leader managed to secure the presence of a significant number of leaders of influential states in Russia, a country that launched the largest military conflict of the 21st century and is accused of massacring civilians.
