On September 3, 2025, Beijing hosted the largest military parade in Chinese history to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in the Indo-Pacific—the second "victory parade" for the PRC since 2015.

At least 12,000 PLA servicemen were involved in its conduct, as well as 100 types of equipment, among which ballistic missiles, innovative drones, and laser weapons stood out. In addition, this parade became the first instance since 1965 of a joint event involving the leaders of the PRC, RF, and DPRK. Each of them held bilateral summits with one another.

In total, 21 heads of state participated in the parade—despite calls for its boycott from the governments of Japan and Taiwan. The European Union assessed it as a "direct challenge" to its security. US President Donald Trump, in turn, called the event a "conspiracy" by Xi Jinping, Putin, and Kim Jong Un against the United States.
