Xiangshan forum in Beijing: China signals unwavering intent to reclaim Taiwan

From September 17 to 19, 2025, the 12th Xiangshan Forum was held in Beijing, which is China's alternative to the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit in Singapore.

Within its framework, Defense Minister Dong Jun stated that China will not back down from its intentions to subjugate Taiwan and the South China Sea, regardless of US attempts to hinder it.

At the same time, Xi Jinping's deputy in the Central Military Commission, Zhang Youxia, emphasized that China will continue to expand military ties with "third countries" to counter "new threats and challenges," which referred to US security initiatives.
