The United States is deploying a bridgehead in Morocco as China continues to provoke war in Africa

On July 22, 2024, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened that Iran, together with a regional ally, most likely Algeria, could close the Strait of Gibraltar to shipping, the most important waterway connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.

This statement followed Morocco's announcement on July 16 of its plan to make Western Sahara more attractive to foreign companies, thereby setting up a springboard for the US and EU in the region.

Morocco's strategic importance to the United States goes far beyond its geographic location. It is a key ally on the African continent.
