Congress approved the 2024 budget requests of US President Joe Biden's administration for nuclear weapons programs and activities totaling $750 billion.

Funding is allocated to increase production and stockpiles of nuclear weapons, with a focus on modernizing the so-called plutonium mines, a key component that causes a nuclear explosion.

Current US projects include constructing new or modified existing facilities for producing uranium and plutonium components in New Mexico, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
