On April 29, 2026, the progressive caucus in the U.S. Congress unveiled a package of legislative proposals titled the “New Affordability Agenda.” The platform, which includes ten new bills, is primarily focused on socio-economic initiatives.

Under the proposed framework, corporations would be prohibited from using consumer data and artificial intelligence to adjust pricing strategies, while household spending on childcare would be reduced through federal funding for childcare facilities.

The agenda also calls for comprehensive labor law reform, including mandatory double pay for overtime and a requirement that employers provide two weeks of paid leave annually. Additional measures target reducing the cost of housing, electricity, fuel, and pharmaceuticals.
