Solid Info

Pakistan held parliamentary elections on February 8, 2024, which became the country's main political event, a bicameral parliamentary republic.

According to the election results, former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the most votes and at least 96 seats in the National Assembly, insufficient to form a parliamentary majority of 134 seats. None of the three major political parties can form a government independently.

In contrast to Khan's party, representatives of opposition forces that enjoyed the support of the military began actively meeting with each other immediately after the election to form a coalition.
