From March 24 to 25, 2024, Beijing hosted the China Development Forum, held annually by the Chinese government and used by the Communist Party of China as an excuse to establish ties with American business.
As a result of the forum, Beijing – amidst a significant deterioration in economic performance – announced a course of “market liberalization” and promised to “fully guarantee non-discriminatory treatment of foreign firms.”
Also, on March 27, 2024, Xi Jinping held a private meeting with the heads of American companies for the first time since the APEC summit.
