On March 13, the House of Representatives passed a bill banning TikTok from operating in the United States. If the bill is supported by the Senate and signed by the President, TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, will be forced to choose between two unfavorable scenarios.
The first will require the app to be sold to a US buyer within six months, and the second will lead to a nationwide ban on the mobile app.
The US policy towards TikTok will increase the pressure on the Chinese economy, which has been in recession recently. China is trying to overcome negative economic trends with technological progress, and one of the aspects of this progress is the development and promotion of technological applications such as TikTok.
