US announces Operation Hellscape to protect Taiwan ahead of China’s BRICS expansion announcement

In early June 2024, the newly appointed commander of USINDOPACOM, Admiral Samuel Paparo, announced the United States’ intention to conduct a defensive operation called Hellscape in the event of a full-scale Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

This strategy should be based on the simultaneous launch of thousands of unmanned systems (underwater, surface, and airborne) to “flood” the sea passages to Taiwan when the PLA launches an offensive.

According to USINDOPACOM, Beijing is still seeking a quick, devastating strike on the island nation to prevent the invasion from being dragged out like the “Russian experience.”
