Trump’s team ramps up defense and foreign policy rhetoric to delay escalation of looming global conflict

In June 2024, a team of Republican politicians in the United States finally formed and communicated publicly the foreign policy strategy of Donald Trump’s future presidential administration.

The Republicans’ updated strategy aims to toughen the US attitude toward China, finding and implementing means to deter China and its authoritarian allies from expansionist steps.

This revision of the US foreign policy agenda towards China comes at a time when the authoritarian axis is increasingly opposing democratic countries and questioning even those geopolitical rules and orders that have not caused disagreements between the opposing sides.
