Trump’s initiative “Iron Dome for America”: new Administration ensures interaction between traditional and innovative players in the defense industry

On January 27, 2025, Donald Trump signed an executive order creating the Iron Dome missile defense program. Unlike the air defense system of the same name used by the Israeli Defense Forces, the idea of the American Iron Dome put forward by the new administration envisages a larger and more complex defense architecture.

Developing the Iron Dome system creates a new space for interaction between traditional weapons manufacturers such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing and innovative technology companies that previously worked mainly in other industries. Their advanced technological developments will now be adapted to the needs of the military industry.

President Trump recognizes the criticality of the situation in the US defense sector and seeks to moderate cooperation between different groups of arms manufacturers.
