Trump Administration prioritizes combating illegal immigration: the U.S. removes China’s leverage over domestic security

On January 20, 2025, a few hours after taking office, Donald Trump signed an executive order to protect the meaning and value of American citizenship.

The order terminates birthright citizenship for children born on or after February 19, 2025, to parents at least one of whom does not have lawful permanent resident status or U.S. citizenship.
