The West is taking a first step towards undermining the nuclear capabilities of the autocratic bloc by banning Russian uranium imports to the United States

On May 14, the US Department of Energy announced a tender to purchase low-enriched uranium produced by US suppliers for $3.4 billion.

This purchase continues the US government’s policy of developing its uranium sector, which resulted in President Biden’s signing of a law in April that made it impossible to import Russian uranium into the US.

The White House’s efforts are part of the global policy of the G7 countries such as the United States, Canada, France, Japan, and the United Kingdom, which provides for the abandonment of Russian uranium and nuclear fuel, the framework of which is set for April 2023.
