The US has created the military-industrial alliance PIPIR: an Asian version of the ‘Ramstein Group’ to win the new arms race

The inaugural meeting of representatives of the military-industrial alliance PIPIR (Partnership for Indo-Pacific Industrial Resilience), led by Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition William LaPlante and USINDOPACOM leadership, took place in Honolulu from October 7 to 8, 2024.

As a result, 13 democracies in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific adopted the Core Vision Statement, which envisages further deepening of their military-industrial ties to qualitatively and quantitatively outpace the alliance of autocracies in the new arms race. Notably, PIPIR became the first “lattice” military alliance to formally include Taiwan.

At its core, PIPIR is an exceptional mechanism for military-technology exchanges that will help democracies in the Indo-Pacific and other regions affected by global fragmented conflict prepare for a major military clash.
