The United States and Thailand are moving to a new stage of integration into the economic security network of the alliance of democracies

From March 12-15, 2024, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo visited Bangkok to strengthen critical trade and manufacturing cooperation with Thailand.

It was the first trip by a senior U.S. official to expand practical cooperation between the two countries, complementing National Security Advisor Sullivan’s January agreements with Thai authorities.

In addition, it reflected the Biden administration’s willingness to fully “unfreeze” cooperation with Bangkok after the end of the junta led by Prayut Chan-o-cha (2014-2023) and the appointment of the democratically elected government of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
