At the end of July 2025, President Donald Trump announced the achievement of “major deals” with the governments of Indonesia and Malaysia. According to them, the United States will ease tariff pressure for both states from 32% and 25% to 19%.
In response, Indonesia committed to increasing purchases of American energy resources by $15 billion, agricultural products by $4.5 billion, and also to acquiring 50 aircraft from the Boeing corporation.
Malaysia, in turn, promised to invest at least $150 billion in acquiring American technologies for the chip, aerospace, and information sectors, as well as to spend $3.4 billion annually on importing liquefied natural gas from the USA. In both cases, trade negotiations will continue.
