On June 20, 2024, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with Netanyahu’s confidants, Secretary of State Ron Dermer and National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, at the White House.

This meeting took place against the backdrop of heightened tensions between the Biden administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, caused by Netanyahu’s accusations that the United States was blocking arms supplies.

The public deterioration of relations between the leaders of the allied countries encourages Iran to take new aggressive actions against Israel, using its proxies, in particular Hezbollah, to provoke Jerusalem to conduct a military operation in Lebanon similar to Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.
