Robert Kennedy Jr. suspends campaign: Trump’s team reacts to Kamala Harris’ upward trend in support

On August 23, 2024, at a press conference in Phoenix, Arizona, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the suspension of his campaign and his support for Donald Trump.

Later that day, Kennedy Jr. spoke at a Trump campaign event. The suspension of the election campaign does not entail the full withdrawal of the third candidate from the race.

Kennedy’s candidacy remains on the ballot in a number of states, but in the 10 most “swing” states, it will be impossible to vote for him. Kennedy urged voters in the states that most closely determine the outcome of the election to vote for Trump.
