On July 1, 2025, the second QUAD ministerial meeting of foreign ministers since President Donald Trump’s inauguration took place in Washington. Its outcome was the declaration of a new strategic framework aimed at transforming QUAD into an “effective mechanism for practical cooperation.”
According to the framework, the alliance will focus on four areas of cooperation: maritime security, economic security, joint efforts in critical resources and advanced technologies, and crisis response.
A particular emphasis of their future collaboration will be the diversification of rare earth metal supply chains through the new QUAD Critical Minerals Initiative platform.
