On October 26, 2024, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia. Amidst a crisis in relations with the West, the ruling Georgian Dream party went to the polls after 12 years in power.
With 99.3% of the vote counted, the ruling Georgian Dream party received over 54% of the vote. The opposition refuses to recognize the election results and has announced protests.
Georgian President Zourabichvili also stated that she would not recognize the elections. She called the parliamentary elections in the country a “Russian special operation” and a “hybrid war”. Salomé Zourabichvili announced a rally on October 28 in the center of Tbilisi.
