India to maintain “pro-American status quo” in the security of the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic until the U.S. presidential election

On August 20, 2024, the first 2+2 talks in two years were held in New Delhi between India (Foreign Minister Jaishankar, Defense Minister Singh) and Japan (Foreign Minister Kamikawa, Defense Minister Kihara).

As a result, the two countries agreed to expand practical defense cooperation: to simplify procedures for transferring Japanese military developments for the security needs of Prime Minister Modi’s government and to conduct integrated military exercises between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the Indian Armed Forces.

In addition, this meeting prepared for the QUAD Leadership Summit in India by the end of 2024.
