On August 6, 2024, the Democratic Party primaries were held in Missouri’s first congressional district to determine the candidate who would face the Republicans in the November elections to the House of Representatives.
According to the primary results, the party’s nominee was St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell, who defeated the incumbent representative from the district, Corey Bush, a member of the progressive “The Squad” faction in the House of Representatives, by almost 5%.
The election campaign leading up to the primaries was marked by the second-largest amount of money ($9 million) ever spent in a House primary.
