On April 23, 2025, the EU Antitrust Committee fined two American Big Tech corporations nearly $785 million (€800 million) for violating antitrust laws.

Apple was fined $560 million for its App Store monopoly and the inconsistency of the EU’s developer support system with European standards, and Meta Corporation was fined $225 million for violating European legislation on online advertising.

The European Union is demonstrating a willingness to apply its de-risking strategy against the new Trump administration as decisively as it was used against China during the previous Biden administration.
