Candidates are evenly supported ahead of election day: factors that will determine victory

The US will hold presidential elections on November 5, and a few days before that, early voting will end in the vast majority of states. As of November 4, more than 76 million American citizens across the country have already voted early.

In the “swing” states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, the total number of citizens who have already cast their votes exceeds 17.8 million.

Polls in the US will close at different times, from 18:00 to midnight Eastern Time (22:00-05:00 GMT). The first results will start coming in shortly after the polls close, but it is expected that the final determination of the overall winner in the swing states may take several days, until November 9.
