At the end of 2023, on December 19, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $45.6 million for nine projects that will advance carbon capture technologies and lay the groundwork for a successful carbon transportation and storage industry in the United States.
The projects aim to create cheaper and more efficient technologies that will capture CO2 from energy and industrial facilities for permanent geological storage or for converting carbon into long-life products.
These investments are part of a larger tranche of the Biden administration’s $1.2 billion investment approved on August 11, 2023, to build two large carbon capture hubs in Texas and Louisiana.
