AI regulation in the US: lawmakers seek to strengthen America’s technological advantage by neutralizing the threat from Tech giants and autocracies

On May 15, the Senate Working Group on Artificial Intelligence Regulation, led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, released a roadmap of potential government policy on AI.

Two days later, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill initiated and passed in the state Senate that restricts companies from developing and using artificial intelligence.

Thus, Colorado became the first state in the country to regulate artificial intelligence systems and require AI developers to protect their consumers from discriminatory risks.
