Fine on X as a “Brussels effect”: social media becomes a tool for undermining democracy

On April 4, it became known that the EU was preparing a fine against Elon Musk’s social network X (formerly Twitter) for violating the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).

After that, Elon Musk publicly criticized Trump’s chief economist Navarro about the harmfulness of tariffs and the need to introduce duty-free trade between the US and the EU.

This step was another manifestation of tensions between the US and the EU, which manifested itself in the confrontation between the European regulator and the American technology company, which is increasingly under the gun because of its activities in the digital space.
