Redistricting in Texas: Republicans strengthen their starting position by leveraging demographic and electoral transformation in the U.S.

On August 2, 2025, the Texas House of Representatives Committee on Redistricting voted to change the boundaries of electoral districts in the state’s largest cities and their suburbs, particularly in the metropolitan areas of Austin, Houston, and Dallas–Fort Worth.

The proposed adjustments provide the Republican Party with the potential to increase its representation in the U.S. House of Representatives by five seats.
