On March 17, 2026, Illinois held primary elections that determined the Democratic and Republican nominees for the 2026 midterm elections. For the U.S. Senate seat from Illinois, Democrats nominated Juliana Stratton—the state’s lieutenant governor, who has been elected twice in tandem with Governor J.B. Pritzker.
From the start of the Democratic primary, Stratton received political and financial support from J.B. Pritzker. Her campaign highlighted her experience in his administration, taking advantage of his strong approval among Democratic voters. Pritzker also appeared at campaign events alongside her.
The governor and his inner circle became the principal sponsors of Stratton’s campaign. Of the $6.3 million raised by her campaign fund, $6.1 million was contributed personally by J.B. Pritzker and his family members.
