Differences in views on peace in Gaza between the United States and Israel allow China to increase its influence in Egypt

On February 18, Israeli military cabinet member Benny Gantz said that if Hamas does not release Israeli hostages before the start of Ramadan on March 10, Israel may launch an assault on the city of Rafah.

In February, the United States sought to conclude a new ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Throughout the month, negotiations were held between key stakeholders, including representatives of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and European countries.  

They reached an impasse, as the parties failed to convince Prime Minister Netanyahu to agree to a truce with the other side.
