On March 14, 2024, the Federal Communications Commission voted in favor of a regulatory framework for supplemental coverage from space (SCS) in the United States.
SCS providers will operate as a secondary service to companies that provide mobile satellite services (MSS) on conventional frequencies already authorized for use from space.
A satellite operator must immediately cease operations if it interferes with an MSS provider or a terrestrial telecommunications company with priority rights.
