Voting for aid packages to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan strengthened Speaker Johnson’s position and shaped his group

On April 20, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a package of four laws that will be “omnibus” and sent to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

One of the resolutions passed by the House of Representatives that day allowed the confiscation of sovereign Russian assets and required TikTok’s owner to sell the app.

The rest of the bills voted on were devoted to financial support for the Indo-Pacific region, additional appropriations for military, humanitarian, and economic support for Ukraine, and allocations to Israel.
