Argentina-US rapprochement plays a key role in countering the Chinese strategy of fragmented conflict in South America

On April 18, 2024, Argentina submitted an official request to join NATO as a global partner. This status will strengthen political and security cooperation with the countries of the Free World. 

At the same time, President Javier Milei and the Argentine government seek to strengthen ties with Western powers and attract investment.

The request was made during talks between NATO Secretary General Mircea Geoană and Argentine Defense Minister Luis Petri in Brussels to discuss security issues in South America.
