On November 5, 2024, in addition to voting for the President and Senator from their state, Arizona residents will express their opinion on the immigration and border enforcement bill proposed by local Republicans, better known as Proposition 314.
Among the ideas in the Republican bill are to make it a crime for non-U.S. citizens to cross the border between Mexico and Arizona outside of designated ports of entry, to allow local police to arrest non-citizens who cross illegally, and to authorize state judges to issue deportation orders for those convicted under the law.
In addition, Proposition 314 provides for increased criminal liability for the sale of fentanyl and for providing false information or documents to an employer or government agencies.
