MSMT mechanism: the United States strengthens the international sanctions system to counter the unprecedented provocations of China and its allies

From October 15 to 17, 2024, Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell made his final visits to Tokyo and Seoul before the U.S. presidential election. During this trip, the Allies agreed to continue strengthening the JAROKUS coalition, particularly its institutionalization.

These decisions aimed to launch the JAROKUS Secretariat by the end of 2024, which is expected during the coalition leadership meeting.

In addition, the United States, Japan, and South Korea governments announced the creation of the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT), including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
