On November 13, 2024, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio announced that he would “secure peace through strength” during a statement made after President-elect Donald Trump nominated him for the post of Secretary of State in the upcoming administration.

During Donald Trump’s second term, the strategy of achieving peace through strength will become the fundamental basis of US policy. To implement this doctrine, the President-elect seeks to find factors that will strengthen the United States’ global influence and allow it to negotiate with autocracies from a position of strength.
