Xi Jinping’s 2025 expansion plan: China enters a new phase of its global dominance strategy

On December 12, 2024, Xi Jinping received Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and leader of the United Russia party, in Beijing. Following the conversation, Xi expressed his readiness to deepen comprehensive cooperation with Russia, particularly in the security and economic spheres.

Medvedev, for his part, assured that, despite pressure from the United States, the Sino-Russian alliance would continue to strengthen, and bilateral trade would reach last year’s figure of $240 billion (which amounted to $222 billion in the period from January to November 2024).

Medvedev’s first visit to Beijing since December 2022 was the final stage of a three-month cycle of coordination meetings between the Chinese and Russian leaders.
