On February 6, 2024, the Republican Party held the presidential primaries in Nevada. The expression of the will of the Republicans in this state took place in new conditions caused by a conflict between the Democratic-controlled Nevada legislature and the local Republican party organization.
Previously, Republicans used party caucuses to determine their delegates to the presidential election. Still, in 2021, local Democratic lawmakers decided to change the approach to selecting delegates and unify the procedure for holding the presidential primary for both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Thus, the local Republican party organization imposed a model of electing candidates through primaries that were not typical for them in this state.
