On March 20, 2025, President Trump asked Congress for authorization to use military force against Iran, the day after the White House handed Supreme Leader Khamenei an official letter demanding that a new nuclear deal be reached within two months.

The White House’s message was an ultimatum: Tehran was warned of serious consequences if it refused to negotiate and continue its nuclear program.

At the same time, Washington began active military preparations in the Middle East – the US Air Force deployed additional F-35A Lightning II fighters with refueling aircraft.
